This figure shows the basic process used to convert images
and analog video into digital video. For analog video, each line
of video is divided into its intensity (brightness) and color
components. These components are periodically sampled and converted into a
digital format.
When digitizing video for standard definition TV - SDTV, this results in a data transmission rate of 270 Mbps. When digitizing video for high definition TV - HDTV, it produces a data transmission rate of 1.5 Gbps. | ||
