Level 1 - Low Complexity
- First MPEG audio coder. Simple (low complexity and low power consumption).
Level 2 - MUSICAM (DAB) - Second MPEG audio coder. More data compression but more complexity. Used in the DAB radio system. Level 3 - MP3 - Third MPEG audio coder. Data compression much higher. A bit complex. Used in CD audio. Advanced Audio Coding - A new type of MPEG audio coder. More compression, better sound. Not backward compatible with MP1, MP2, or MP3.
